17.5 acres of Mourvedre and Grenache grow on decomposed granite, gneiss, schist, basalt and clay loam at 3,200 feet above sea level, making this one of the highest elevation vineyards in the US. Superb clonal selection, tight spacing, huge day/night temperature differentials and meticulous vineyard work produce grapes that yield vibrant, complex and compelling wines.
L’Ange Rouge meaning “The Red Angel” is dedicated to Mac’s grandmother. Grandma had red hair so what better of a name? Alta Mesa Grenache is blended with Grenache from Thompson Vineyard to showcase a rich and complex blend of Grenache.
Located in Ballard Canyon’s western most area, coastal winds and fog layers combine to produce one of the coolest spots in the entire Santa Ynez Valley. The Larner’s 33 acres are planted to Syrah, Grenache and Viognier in addition to the "Larner Clone" Grenache and Malvasia Bianca.
A certified organic vineyard, located on the Westside of Paso Robles, Luna Matta is planted to Rhone and Italian varietals. Steep hillsides, limestone soils, warm days and cold nights are a perfect match for the vines planted in 2001.
Hommage a Stevan Larner was first introduced in 2006 to honor Stevan Larner who planted Larner Vineyard in 1998. 2012 marked the tenth year Mac has purchased fruit from the vineyard and he has brought back Hommage a Stevan Larner to commemorate. Mac will continue to produce this wonderful blend every vintage going forth.
