93 points, Jeb Dunnuck

I always love this cuvée from McPrice and the 2016 L'Ange Rouge is no exception. A blend of 75% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah, brought up in neutral puncheons, it boasts terrific notes of white pepper, dark fruits, ground sea salt, and cedar. Elegant, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced, you can drink it today with plenty of pleasure or cellar bottles for 7-8 years.

This estate hit a home run with these latest 2016s, and the charming, more supple style of the vintage worked perfectly with the more savory, classic style preferred by McPrice Myers. These are unquestionably the finest wines I’ve tasted from him, and readers should snatch up these wines.

92 points, Vinous

Limpid ruby-red. Flamboyant raspberry, potpourri and incense aromas are complicated by a building spice cake note. Sweet, mineral-tinged red and blue fruit liqueur and lavender pastille flavors show excellent delineation and silky, seamless texture. Finishes juicy, lively and very long, with slow-building tannins and resonating floral and red berry notes.
